Cantina Altarocca

The decades-long passion for oenology and viticulture strong land farm Molino Al Gualtieri have made possible the realization of Altarocca Cantina, located at the foot of the tufa rock called Rocca Ripesena less than five kilometers away from the historic city of Orvieto.

The grapes used in the production process come exclusively from estate vineyards, which stretch for 11 hectares of land in the heart of Orvieto Classico, 350 m, on soil rich in clay and tuff and with ideal exposure to sunlight . Research, testing, equipment and modern techniques, but always respecting the centuries-old winemaking history of the area, the proposed winery Altarocca wants to be a balanced blend of technology and tradition. Only selected grapes reached the desired degree of ripeness are harvested by hand and returned to the cellar using small boxes to ensure the integrity of the grapes, which undergo a further selection before crushing. The varieties grown are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for the reds and Grechetto, Procanico, Malvasia and Chardonnay for whites.
