According to winemaker Ruggero de Tarczal, 95% of all wines made in Trentino are from a co-op. Of the remaining 5%, only 4 estates produce Marzemino, and De Tarczal is
the smallest producer of all. Four producers in the world! Marzemino is a very late ripening, difficult to grow grape that is a fascinating relative of it’s Northern Italian cousins, Lagrein and Barbera. Gregorio de Tarczal’s wine is reminiscent of a Burgundian/Loire style, with lots of bright fruit, fully ripened, with crisp acidity and tannins. With a remarkable price to quality ratio, this is an uber-rare opportunity to taste one of the world’s most unique varietals.
