Animale Winery

The very smallest of the Small-Lot family of wineries, ANIMALE is a unique micro-producer operating out of a 600-square foot Ballard (Seattle) basement. Winemaker Matt Gubitosa hand-produces a total of 200 cases unusual and distinctive wines each vintage. Using family-farmed fruit from cooler growing sites (allowing longer 'hang-time' for the fruit), and never employing industrial processing methods (such as filtration or fining), ANIMALE produces wines that are true to both varietal character and to the place where they are grown. Complexity, texture and intensity are the rule for these wines. ANIMALE wines have been the subject of favorable reviews in the Seattle Times, Wine and Spirits Magazine, Wine Press Northwest, Robert M. Parker Jr.'s Wine Advocate, and even a few wine blogs.
